Hail to the king, baby!

For years, I avoided working on SOAP API systems. Always stuck with REST API systems. I found something comforting about JSON and endpoints and all that. Postman, of course.

A few weeks ago, a startup in Australia who is working with a mobile telephony vendor, hired to help him out with his software. The technology stack was simple enough.

  1. Identity (from Microsoft) based Authentication and Authorization.
  2. Entity Framework with MySQL.
  3. C # Web API with .NET Core 5.0/6.0
  4. Vue JS for backend. I have never worked on Vue JS before, but for the last 18 months and counting, I have become something of a JavaScript expert with steadily improving React JS skills. I was able to ease into Vue JS just fine.

But, there was something that was something that was always something that made me afraid. and it was in this project.

The project WEB API had to integrate with our service vendor. ITS SOAP API!!!

Oh man. I was scared at first. Of course, I kept my client informed of my fears. He appreciated my transparency in informing him. Yet, he allowed me to work on it anyway.

And now, yes, I am doing it. God’s blessings, I am doing it. Phew!

I feel good. I feel, like I overcome a decade long fear. Yeah. Thank you, god. Thank you client. Touchwood.

I work as a full time freelance coding tutor. Hire me at UpWork or Fiverr or Stack Overflow. My personal website is here. Find more of my art at Behance and Unsplash. Also, I have a Podcast about everyday life. And, a 2nd Podcast, where I talk about freelancing.
