I am once again writing about Cyberpunk 2077. I had no idea I was so looking forward to playing this game.

I like that there is now an apology, but this line, is almost, oddly funny. In a sad way.

“not showing the game on base last-gen consoles”

I work as a freelancer, and I have met many customers who have said some variation of this. It is a deliberate hiding of important information, like the complexity of the work involved or requirement. A rather poor attempt at convincing the opposite party. Such a behavior always makes this specific category of clients, look, and appear cheap. Unauthentic.

When I was young and stupid, I would fall for these tricks. Early in my career. Now, I have wizened up. The moment I see a client try and pull this on me, I back-out. Politely and Assertively.

I read this apology and I felt, this is an incredibly sad turn of events. You expect this from EA or Bethesda or Activision. Just not from CD Projekt. This reminds of that time when Google removed its “Do No Evil” line from their website and marketing material. Projekt clearly was aware of base console problems and purposefully avoided showing the game on current gen.

It even went as far as to give the reviewers, advance copies, ONLY on PC.

And, taking it further, blocking them from releasing even PC footage before the game is released.

I suppose, we just cannot have nice things forever. Money and Success changes everything.
